AAAP 2026 Abstract Submission Information

General Information

We invite you to submit proposals for the 2026 AAAP Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium, taking place November 12–15, 2026, in Memphis, TN.

AAAP accepts multiple types of submissions, including symposia, workshops, film and media workshops, case conferences, paper sessions, and posters.

Each submission type has its own guidelines, requirements, and word limits.
Each submission type also opens and closes on different dates.

Before starting, please carefully review the category you plan to submit to.


Important Notice Before You Submit

Abstract requirements, word limits, and review criteria vary by submission type.
You must select the correct category and follow the guidelines listed on that submission page.

Submissions that do not follow the appropriate guidelines may not be reviewed.


Who May Submit

Submissions are open to clinicians, researchers, health professionals, and students.

Case Conference submissions are limited to trainees (fellows, residents, and medical students).

AAAP membership is not required to submit an abstract.


How to Submit

When the submission period opens for your category, you may submit your abstract through the online submission system.

Submission portals will only be available during the open period for each category.

All presenters are required to attend and present in person.

Submission Categories, Guidelines, and Requirements

Symposium

Didactic sessions with interactive elements focused on new research and scientific developments in addiction psychiatry.

Format: Didactic + interactive discussion
Length: 1 hour and 40 minutes
Presenters: 3–4
Who may submit: Clinicians, researchers, health professionals, and students
Primary goal: Highlight new research and scientific developments and provide resources for clinical practice

Workshop

Highly interactive sessions designed to build knowledge, skills, and competencies around a focused topic.

Format: Interactive session
Length: 90 minutes
Presenters: 1–3
Who may submit: Clinicians, researchers, health professionals, and students
Primary goal: Improve knowledge or competencies using discussion, case examples, and skill-building activities

Film & Media Workshop

Interactive educational sessions that use film or media to enhance learning and discussion in addiction psychiatry.

Format: Interactive session with media
Length: 90 minutes
Presenters: 1–3
Who may submit: Clinicians, researchers, health professionals, and students
Primary goal: Use film or media to promote thoughtful discussion and learning

Case Conference

Discussion-based sessions built around a compelling clinical case related to substance use disorder treatment.

Format: Didactic case presentation with discussion
Length: 90 minutes
Presenters: 1 plus discussants
Who may submit: Trainees only (fellows, residents, and medical students)
Primary goal: Promote thoughtful discussion on clinical management of patients

Paper Sessions

Brief oral presentations of research findings or clinical experiences.

Format: Short oral presentation + Q&A
Length: 8–10 minutes presentation, 2–3 minutes Q&A
Presenters: 1
Who may submit: Clinicians, researchers, health professionals, and students
Primary goal: Provide a concise summary of research or clinical experience
